Publisher's Message

We are excited to begin our eighth year. North Hills Monthly Magazine continues to grow stronger each month. It is the positive response from both readers and advertisers that makes the magazine such a wonderful experience for me and the entire staff and support team.

Our editorial content is continuously evolving, as are our advertising opportunities. This year, we have a wonderful editorial schedule planned. Our editorial for 2008 includes many exciting features about people and places in northern Allegheny and southwest Butler counties. We will continue to provide you with regular features such as Jane Nugent’s Home and Garden article, Perspective by Jack Etzel, Doctor Knowledge, Larry’s Line-up by Larry Richert, in addition to financial, legal, real estate, health and education columns. Our Dining Guide and Hidden Treasure continue to be reader and advertiser favorites.

We have featured restaurants and businesses that have given us glowing testimonials as to how the articles affected the growth of their establishments. Here is just one example from Patty Knouse and Nicole Freshwater of AntiquiTea Tearoom and Gift Shop: “Since we began advertising in North Hills Monthly, we have seen a wonderful surge in business. Almost every day we talk to someone who finds us there. We have a lovely relationship with our advertising representative, who is friendly, knowledgeable and is always there for us. North Hills Monthly Magazine is a priceless community resource, and the absolute best way to advertise our business!”

North Hills Monthly Magazine continues to be involved in the communities we serve. We are active members of area chambers, business organizations and networking groups. As publisher, I believe in giving back to the community. With that in mind, last year we established the first annual John M. Koch Journalism Scholarship. The scholarship is named after my late father and completely funded by North Hills Monthly Magazine. We award the scholarship through North Hills Community Outreach to a local North Hills area student.

It was so heartwarming to receive a letter from the first recipient letting us know how much she appreciated it and what good use she would make of it.

Everyone at North Hills Monthly felt so gratified by the opportunity to help someone in need, we are also adding another scholarship for 2008. The new scholarship will be awarded to a southwest Butler County area high school student planning on a career in journalism. I must say, if it were not for our wonderful advertisers and supporters, neither of these scholarships would be possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask all of our readers to please continue to support North Hills Monthly Magazine and the fine businesses that advertise with us. It is our advertisers and readers who continue to make our magazine possible.

On behalf of the entire staff, thank you again for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Marnie Lutz, Publisher
