Free drive-it-yourself tour of local farms. Hands on and family friendly. Meet the hardworking faces who grow our food and harvest fiber. Click each farm name for more details. Asgard Acres Alpaca Farm 180 Nursery Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053 Learn: care of alpacas and what products can be made from alpaca fiber Do: watch spinning/weaving demos, make "alpaca soap," see the obstacle course, and work with 4-H alpacas Shop: products made from alpaca fleece - sweaters, hats, socks, gloves and more Eat: hot dogs and food from the Butler County Alpaca 4-H Club Harvest Valley Farms 130 Ida Lane, Valencia, PA 16059 Learn: the parts of and life cycle of bees, and the history of the farm Do: watch yarn spinning demo, get your face painted, take a hayride, go through the straw tunnel and cornstalk maze, meet farm animals, enjoy live music, and check out huge displays Shop: apples, pumpkins, cider, fall squash, pies, cookies, pumpkin rolls, honey, jams and jellies, straw, and corn stalks Eat: hot dogs, hot and cold cider, coffee, hot chocolate, hot pretzels, cookies, potato chips, pepperoni rolls, and apple dumplings Santa's Heritage Farm 211 Hespenheide Rd., Mars, PA 16046 Learn: felting and spinning of alpaca fiber, growing fodder for animals and small-scale aquaponics Do: felting, phone photo treaure hunt, pork raffle Shop: rainbow eggs, hams, pork chops, bacon, sausage, alpaca socks, gloves, scarfs, felting kits, bags of topsoil and raffle tickets for 40 pounds of pork (3/$5 or 7/$10) Eat: Twelve Oaks Mansion will serve a farm to table lunch/dinner of heritage pork on the farm, under a tent. $8 to $12 per customer. Gristmill Brewhouse will serve beer samples to pair with the pork.
