Friends of Flight 93
The Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial, the National Park Service, and Leadership Somerset County are asking the community to join them on June 25, 2016 for Walk 93, the 2nd annual memorial walk at Flight 93 National Memorial. Proceeds from Walk 93 will fund the purchase of new trees and replacement of damaged trees in the Memorial Groves surrounding the Memorial.
Participants will experience the Memorial's newly-opened Visitor Center from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and at 9 a.m., begin to walk the 2.28-mile Allée Walkway, Wetlands Bridge, and Western Overlook Trail. The walk is non-competitive. Registered walkers will enjoy different perspectives of the Memorial in the early morning light as well as a spectrum of vibrant colors that highlight Flight 93 in the summer season. The walk will encourage reflection about the events of September 11, 2001, and create awareness about the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93.
Registration opens April 15. Participants can register online at www.Flight93Friends.org/programs-events/ or complete and mail the attached registration form with payment to Friends of Flight 93, P.O. Box 911, Shanksville, PA 15560.
The registration fee for adults age 18 and older is $25; youth age 13-17, $12, and children 12 and under are free. Adults and youth will receive a shirt with their registration. Children’s shirts can be purchased for a fee of $7. Individuals and businesses can support Walk 93 by donating to the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial, the official 501 c (3) nonprofit partner of Flight 93 National Memorial.
