Folkore Ensemble Hrvatski Tanac will present “The Revival of Traditions”

For 15 years, Hrvatski Tanac’s mission has been to preserve the rich Eastern European heritage for this generation of young people. “Tanac” is the Croatian/Slavic word for “dance”, and our students (ages 5-18) have been perpetuating the cultures and traditions of Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria through music and dance since 2001. The ensemble is under the very capable Artistic Direction of Mr. Zeljko Jergan, a renowned choreographer and teacher throughout the world; musical direction of Mrs. Susan Stafura, former member of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans; and dance instruction by Dr. Cathleen Cubelic, former member of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans. This year’s performance will feature music and dance selections from the Croatian regions of Zagorje, Medjimurje and Gradisce, as well as pieces from Poland, Ukraine, Armenia and Romania. Special guest performances by the Bojack Bluegrass Band and Folklore Ensemble LJELJO will add flavor to the colorful performance of our young children. This year we will celebrate the performance accomplishments our senior member, Arianna Burns, and wish her well in her future stage career as a newly accepted member of the renowned Duquesne University Tamburitzans. Reception immediately following at Saint Catherine of Sweden – Farmer Hall 2554 Wildwood Road, Allison Park, PA 15101
