La Roche College to Host Catholic Common Ground Conversation
La Roche College invites the public to a Catholic Common Ground Conversation on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. to discuss “In a Morsel of Bread, a Piece of the Cosmos.” Facilitated by Father Mike Woods, S.J., Ph.D., the conversation will discuss Pope Francis’ understanding of integral ecology through the lens of food, agriculture and culture. The event will take place in the Ryan Room of the Zappala College Center at La Roche’s main campus in the North Hills. The event is free and open to anyone who wants to participate in a lively discussion. The Catholic Common Ground Initiative, inspired by the call to be one in Christ, invites Catholics with differing views about critical issues in the Church to engage in prayerful dialogue for the sake of building up communion in the Church. Participants also can make a free-will offering to support the Sister Candace Introcaso Student Emergency Fund at La Roche. Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, the late archbishop of Chicago, started the Catholic Common Ground Initiative in October of 1996. La Roche College holds Common Ground conversations in honor of Father Eugene Lauer, the College’s former academic vice president, campus minister and chair of the humanities division. Preregistration is strongly encouraged. To register for the event, contact Gina Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org or 412-536-1085.
