Drug Take-Back Scheduled
The DEA will coordinate a collaborative effort with the Shaler Police Department focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from local medicine cabinets at the Shaler North Hills Library, 1822 Mt. Royal Blvd. The TAKE-BACK day provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This one-day effort brings National Focus to the issues of pharmaceutical controlled substances abuse.
COLLECTION: Unwanted, expired, unused prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, pet medication, tablets, pills, caplets, patches, vitamins and supplements, inhalers, homeopathic remedies and liquid medications (in leak-proof containers). All medication can be left in their original containers and void of any personal information.
The organizers of this event are Dave and Norma Hufnagel, who lost their son, David, to a Heroin overdose in 2007 after a long battle with addiction. We thank every one for taking the 15 minutes or so that it takes to clean up their medications. “If we can spare one family the heartache we went through, it's all worth it!”
