Cranberry’s multicultural movie matinee
Life at the home of a Chinese Master Chef and his three unmarried daughters revolves heavily around preparing and eating an elaborate dinner every Sunday in Ang Lee’s 1994 movie Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. At noon on Saturday, March 5, the Cranberry Area Diversity Network will hold the second in its Matinee, Mumble and Munch series featuring a showing of the film followed by an assortment of Taiwanese hors d’ oeuvres and a discussion led by Dr. Yasmin Purohit, a Sewickley resident who serves as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Robert Morris University. The Cranberry Area Diversity Network, with support from Cranberry Township, is focused on creating programs designed to welcome visitors and new residents from different cultures into the Township. The Network will also hold its second annual Folk ‘n Food celebration during CranFest from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 9 in the Municipal Center. The next Matinee, Mumble and Munch movie programs are set for Saturdays April 23, May 21 and June 18. Donations of $5 per person, to cover food costs, will be collected at the entrance in Cranberry Library’s Franklin Station Room. Credit and checks cannot be accepted, so participants are asked to bring cash. Due to limited seating and planning for refreshments, advance registration is required online at CranberryLibrary.org/RegisterOnline.
