Butler County Symphony Concert
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present its next concert, “Marianne Cornetti Returns” on Saturday, February 6 at 7:30 pm at the Butler Intermediate High School. Selections will include:
Ottorino Respighi / Fountains of Rome; Hector Berlioz /La Mort de Cléopâtre; Guiseppe Verdi/La Forza del Destino Overture; Guiseppe Verdi/”Condotta ell’era in ceppi” from Il Trovatore; Giacomo Puccini/Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut; Camille Saint-Saëns/”Mon couer s’ouvre a ta voix” from Samson et Dalila and Richard Wagner’s/Tannhäuser Overture.
Butler Symphony Music Director & Conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture beginning at 6:30 pm. The lecture will include snippets of the music to be performed during the concert.
Butler County Native, Marianne Cornetti, is recognized internationally as one of the leading Verdi mezzo-sopranos in the world. She has appeared as Amneris in Aida, Azucena in Il Trovatore, and Eboli in Don Carlos at theatres including the Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theatre Royale de la Monnaie, Brussels, Teatro Comunale in Florence, the Arena di Verona, Gran Teatro del Liceo, Barcelona, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and many others.
