Festival of Lights
LaRoche College and Sisters of Divine Providence to host
La Roche College and the Sisters of Divine Providence will celebrate the holiday season during their annual Festival of Lights event on Friday, Dec. 4.
Festival of Lights will run from 3 to 9 p.m. at La Roche and the neighboring Sisters of Divine Providence campus. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
Colleen Ruefle, La Roche’s vice president for student life and dean of students, said, “Festival of Lights is a popular tradition in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, where the community comes together for an entertaining, family-friendly atmosphere to celebrate the holiday season.”
The festivities will begin with a craft show and conclude with a fireworks display on the La Roche campus. Evening events will feature a live nativity, ice carvings, carriage rides, activities for children and a visit from Santa Claus. Concentio, a girls choral ensemble from the Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts, and the Providence Heights Alpha School choir and band will present live performances.
From 6 to 8 p.m. at the entrance of the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center, the La Roche Student Government Association will accept donations for the Cans for Cocoa food drive. Guests may donate canned goods or other nonperishable food items and receive a 12-ounce cup of cocoa for their generosity.
Sponsors for Festival of Lights include La Roche College, The Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence and Providence Heights Alpha School.
