- Cranberry Communty Park
- Weekly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
- Starting on: Jul 23, 2015
- Ending on: Jul 25, 2015
A cast of well-loved characters based on the works of Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, will administer the good doctor’s whimsical prescriptions to visitors at Community Park in Cranberry Township from Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25, at the Rotary Amphitheater during a production of Seussical, Jr., by the Keystone State Musical Theatre Performing Arts Academy, a project of the Keystone State Musical Theatre, KSMT.
The play, which has become a favorite for school, community and regional theaters, is an adaptation of Seussical, a full-length musical by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Eric Idle, based on various books by Dr. Seuss, which debuted on Broadway in 2000.
With sponsorship from Cranberry Township’s Parks & Recreation Department and the Regional Learning Alliance at Cranberry Woods, KSMT will present the play free of charge on its opening night, beginning at 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 23. Friday’s 7:00 PM performance and Saturday afternoon’s 2:00 performance will be offered with paid admission; tickets will be available at the gate for $10.
The nonprofit Keystone State Musical Theatre was formed in Cranberry two years ago by New York City veterans Chris and Alison Rose Saunders. On June 12, the organization raised the curtain on its Keystone PRO Series featuring professional Actors’ Equity performers in Always… Patsy Cline. Four performances of Pinkalicious, the Musical, an adaptation of the popular children’s book by the same name, followed on June 20 and 21.
Those attending Seussical, Jr. are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
