Description:

The Allegheny Drifters have become one of the most popular and hard-working bands in western Pennsylvania. Their high-energy performances and smooth vocals make them a hit with audiences everywhere. They have become ambassadors for traditional bluegrass music, creating new friends for this exciting, authentically American style. The success of their 3 albums has earned them national and international recognition. The Allegheny Drifters are Bernie Cunningham on guitar, Bob Artis on mandolin, Karen Artis on bass, and Gregg Welty on banjo.

The Shelf Life String Band is a local acoustic string band born and raised in the city of Pittsburgh with ambitious visions. Beginning in 2007 with just the guitar duo, Derek Dysart and Joe Dep, Shelf Life has had a steady climb to success. They adopted a bluegrass flavor to their sound when Andy Boehm, the mandolinist, joined the project. In 2011, Shelf Life landed a weekly gig at The Park House, a bar/restaurant in Pittsburgh’s Deutschtown neighborhood. These shows, in addition to their one-time gigs, allowed the band to stretch their influence through Pittsburgh swiftly and effectively. Shelf Life began performing bluegrass inspired covers of artists such as The Coasters, Pink Floyd, The Meters, Ben E. King, and more. As their project evolved, many musicians came and went, but in 2012, they ended with their current five-piece ensemble; Andy Boehm on mandolin, Rocky Youhon on violin, Joe Dep on banjo, Derek Dysart on guitar, and Trish Imbrogno on bass. The Shelf Life String Band had the honor of performing with Greensky Bluegrass, Cornmeal, Pokey LaFarge, Mac Martin, Gangstagrass and more, as well as performing for Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto’s campaign at events throughout his election run, featured also in his inauguration party at the Senator John Heinz History Center.
