3rd Annual Free to Breathe Lung Cancer 5K/1-mile walk
The 3rd Annual Free to Breathe Lung Cancer 5K/1-mile walk in Pittsburgh will take place on Saturday, June 13 to raise hope, awareness and critically-needed funds for the fight against lung cancer. The disease kills more American men and women than any other cancer.
This year’s event will include family friendly activities including a kids dash, crafts, face painting, and an interactive I-spy activity during the walk. There will also be a silent auction with prizes like gift cards, tickets to local attractions and much more. Live music from a local DJ will energize the crowd throughout the morning. The 2014 5K/1-mile walk had 350 participants and raised over $30,000 for lung cancer research.
The five-year survival rate for lung cancer has remained at 16 percent for more than 40 years – greatly due to the relative lack of research funding. Proceeds from Free to Breathe will directly benefit lung cancer research, education and awareness programs.
WHO: More than 300 participants including lung cancer survivors, Family and friends, Medical professionals, Community members and other advocates
