The book club has been reading and discussing King's novels. The club will be having a lunch with King where they will discuss her books and ask her questions. King will hold a writing seminar on writer's voice for interested students, the TapestryClub, and the 12th grade journalism class. This workshop will help students find their voice while writing and answer questions writers commonly ask themselves throughout the writing process. King will also be discussing how writers can break thetraditional writing rules. King has said that, “She's pretty sure her mission on Earth is to empower people, whether it was her years teaching adults how to read or her message to high school students about their futures and their 'personal suitcases.' ”

This event is a collaborative effort with the Upper St. Clair High School Library and the high school's PTA. King will present at Upper St. Clair High School in the morning where she will be doing a creative writer's workshop and a large group presentation “On Being a Superhero: An Exploration of Your Personal Suitcase.”
