The "practically perfect" Mary Poppins will create magic on the Shaler Area

High School stage when the students present "Mary Poppins," the musical, for

two weekends in March.

The musical will delight audiences with characters that fly, toe-tapping

dance numbers and props that come to life with a little magic from Mary

Poppins. More than 80 students in the cast will sing, dance and act in this

year's musical. An additional 31 student-musicians are in the orchestra pit

and more than 50 students are on stage crew to help bring the musical


For the first time, Shaler Area Middle School students have taken lead roles

in the high school musical. This year's cast features two seventh-graders,

Kelsey Marshall and Isabella James, who play Jane and Michael Banks,


This year's cast also include senior Kelly Wall as Mary Poppins, senior

Jordan Schreiber as Bert, junior Zak Marshall as Mr. Banks, and senior Catie

Strout as Mrs. Banks.

The directorial staff includes Kristin Demsey, director; Kristen Susany,

assistant director; George Tepshich, orchestra director; Cassie Dudley,

choreographer; Jeanne Marshall, scenic designer; Kari Simonetti, costume

designer; Scott Krenn, stage manager; Mitch Stivason, technical director.

The performances will be 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 and March

13-14, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the high school auditorium, located

at 381 Wible Run Road. There also will be a free performance for senior

citizens at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.

Tickets are $10 for reserve seating or $7 for general admission. Residents

with a Silver Titan Pass receive general admission tickets for free. Tickets

will be sold in advance and at the door. For more information, contact the
