FILM SERIES: FOREIGN FILM: Drama from Lesotho/South Africa, Wednesday, February 11 at 1:30 p.m. Atang Mokoenya leaves the slums of Johannesburg to return to his ancestral land of Lesotho, where he must bury his estranged father in the remote, mountainous village where he was born. He falls in love with his childhood friend, Dineo. Refreshments will be served. TRAVEL FILM: Bolivia, South America, Wednesday, February 18 at 2 p.m. Bolivia is landlocked high in the Andes Mountains and is the last Indian country in the Americas. We’ll visit La Paz, Sucre, Sipe Sipe, Potosi and Uyuni. Refreshments will be served. BOOK DISCUSSION GROUPS: TUESDAY NIGHT BOOK GROUP On February 3 at 7 p.m., the group will discuss The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America by George Packer. He tells the story of the past three decades through profiles of several Americans, from a factory worker in Youngstown to an Internet billionaire. READINGS IN ALTERNATIVE EVERYTHING Interested in mysteries of the mind, holistic healing, mind/body/spirit connections and other alternative ways of looking at ourselves and our world? Join us on Tuesday, February 10 at 7 p.m. to begin a study of Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles and Belief by Gregg Braden. SERIOUS READERS BOOK GROUP If you are someone who enjoys reading and discussing books of historical significance that have influenced and shaped the economic, political and cultural development of the United States you should join this discussion group.
