Celebration of Chocolate
Chocoholics get ready! The second annual Celebration of Chocolate event on Saturday, March 7 will tempt taste buds and present an expansive array of diverse chocolate-themed items and demonstrations for anyone with a sweet tooth for one of America's favorite confections.
The day-long event at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township's Cranberry Woods will feature chocolate vendors, hourly chocolate demonstrations by local confectioners and chefs, a children's activity area, a chocolate fountain, appearances by Willy Wonka and a Golden Ticket raffle.
"Our first event last winter was a tremendous success, with nearly 2,000 people attending to sample everything from chocolate wine, fudge, bacon and beer to shopping among a wide-variety of gift items offered by almost 40 vendors ," said Jack Cohen, president of the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau, organizers of the event. "This year's event will feature even more chocolate items and an improved demonstration area so attendees can learn even more about how to use chocolate in new ways."
Interest in chocolate isn't limited to Western Pennsylvania. The National Confectioners Association says America's love affair with chocolate is going strong. In fact, U.S. sales of chocolate increased by more than four percent between April 2013 and April 2014.
Celebration of Chocolate will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 12 and under. Adults can save $1 off their ticket by bringing a non-perishable food item that will be donated to Gleaner's Food Bank.
