Be a New Year’s Resolutionary!

What is America’s most frequent New Year’s resolution? It’s to get in shape. And Cranberry is listening. Two free training sessions – one in the morning of New Year’s Eve, the other on Saturday morning, January 3 – will give your pledge of keeping fit real meaning. The 90-minute December 31class begins at 8:30am in the Community Center gymnasium with short burst training followed by Les Mills Body Pump and ending with Yoga stretches. If you can handle more, a free Zumba class is slated to run from 10:00am-11:00am. Short Burst Training is an increasingly popular exercise format appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. It involves twenty seconds of high intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest, allowing everyone to find and work at their own fitness level. Les Mills Body Pump is considered one of the quickest ways to get rid of a spare tire, rounded shoulders, or weak upper body. It is a fun weight training class, set to great music, using moderate weights and plenty of reps. It also includes a cardio component, making for a full body workout. Although the Les Mills Body Pump class uses barbells, you also have the option of going without. Then, on January 3rd, there will be a 60-minute Body Pump class beginning at 10:00am. Come early to learn the options of using barbells, dumbbells, or no weights at all. Both classes are free and there’s no need to pre-register, just show up! Bring a mat if you have one, but it’s not required. Call Cranberry’s Parks and Recreation Department at 724-776-4806 ext. 1129 for more information. The Township’s supervised Playcenter will be available at a cost of $2 an hour per child, but only for the New Year’s Eve class.
