Cranberry to host Zumba/PiYogathon Special Olympics benefit event
What, you may ask, is PiYo? Good question.
It is an exercise discipline that combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of Yoga to deliver a fat-burning, low-impact workout.
On Saturday, October 25, five group fitness instructors will hold an open Zumbathon cardio blast, interspersed with five-minute sessions PiYo, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM in the Cranberry Township Municipal Center gymnasium. The exercise event is designed to support the athletes from Special Olympics, PA in their sporting events nationally as well as internationally.
A suggested donation of $10 at the door, as well as a Chinese auction, will help raise funds to support the Special Olympians. No reservations are necessary, and door prizes will be awarded. In addition, because of the event’s proximity to Halloween, those in costume – or at least wearing black and orange – will be eligible to win a free month-long membership in Cranberry’s Total Body Conditioning program, as judged by the participating instructors.
