Community Blood Drive

Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company will host its second blood drive in conjunction with Central Blood Bank on Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The drive will be held at the Harmony Drive Station, 9695 Harmony Drive (at the corner of West Ingomar Road) in McCandless. All participating donors will receive a $10 gift card to Monte Cello’s restaurant. “We’re in the business of serving the community and saving lives,” says Firefighter and Vice President Geoffrey Allerton. “When we realized that Central Blood Bank needs 200,000 units of blood each and every year to meet the demand within the tri-state region, it just seemed natural for us to step up and help.” In fact, blood and blood products are vital those who are the victims of traumas and burns, cancer patients, and heart disease or kidney disease patients, just to name a few. “These folks are our friends and neighbors, and they need our aid." “We need the community to help us save lives by donating blood,” says Allerton. “It’s safe and simple, and each donation can help save the lives of up to three people.” All personal information is kept confidential, and the materials used are pre-packaged, sterile, and disposable. The donation itself only takes about fifteen minutes.
