Fatherlessness is an epidemic in our cities, affecting millions of children and youth across America. ManUp Pittsburgh’s mission for the past 6 years has been to encourage men to maximize their impact in their families and for the fatherless youth in their communities. For the seventh year in a row, Coach Mike Tomlin is partnering with Urban Impact to support this mission. Coach Tomlin’s own life experience of growing up without a relationship with his biological father has inspired him to join forces with Rev. Dr. Ed Glover, Founder & President of the Urban Impact Foundation. Rev. Dr. Ed Glover says the aim of the conference is to “Impact men and impact the fatherless. We want to encourage men to make a difference in the lives of their family members as well as children in their communities and the city of Pittsburgh who need strong role models.” ManUp Pittsburgh will take place this year on June 8, 2019. In addition to Coach Tomlin and Ed Glover, the featured speakers will include Pittsburgh Steeler Vance McDonald and fan favorite Bryan Loritts of Abundant Life Fellowship. Former Steeler, Tunch Ilkin, will return as emcee for the day. Men will also be able to attend practical breakout sessions led by prominent local pastors that focus on issues such as being a dad that overcomes habits and excuses, processing pain as a father, a session for veterans, a session for grandfathers, and more. Coach Tomlin will host a breakout focusing on coaching to transform lives. This year’s conference offers 10 brand new sessions in total. The conference is recommended for all men ages 15 and up and is $49 per person, which includes a light breakfast and lunch, provided by Chick-fil-A of Pittsburgh. Doors open at 7:30 am on Saturday, June 8 at Victory Family Church in Cranberry and the conference will end at 3:30 pm. Sponsors include Chick-fil-A of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Health Network together with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, WORD-FM Christian Talk Radio, Lamar Advertising, Hefren-Tillotson, Inc., Ward Transport, Thrivent Financial and Mars Bank.
