Northland Library April Events
WISE WALK Tuesday, April 16 at 9:30 a.m. Following weeks: 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28, 6/4, 6/11, 6/18 Walking may be the simplest way to work out. Your heart gets exercise, you lower your blood pressure, and your bones get stronger. Walking also eases stress and can boost your outlook on life. Join us at Northland Library on Tuesday, April 16 to kick off our 10-week Wise Walk program. Meet at the library at 9:30 a.m. on the 16th to receive informational handouts, then head over to North Park with our volunteer leader to walk for 30 - 40 minutes. For the remaining nine weeks, the group will meet each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. directly at Pie Traynor Field to walk together and enjoy the spring weather. Water and snacks will be provided each week. Registration is required only for week one.
AYURVEDA COOKING WITH ANN Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Ayurveda cooking focuses on balancing what we eat to create a healthier you. Join our favorite Indian cook, Ann Manchella, as she talks about the ideas behind Ayurveda cooking and demonstrates the preparation of a tasty vegetarian dish from South India. This month, Ann will make Bhel Puri, a popular savory snack made with puffed rice, vegetables and tangy chutney. Watch her preparation and taste a generous sample. Copies of the recipe will be available for you to take home and try for yourself. Registration is required.
GENEALOGY LOCK-IN Friday, April 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Back again by popular demand! This evening of hands-on research requires general computer skills as you will search for your ancestors using online databases, including Ancestry Library Edition, Heritage Quest Online, Family Search and more. Research volunteers will be on hand to help. Participants should bring a flash drive to save copies of documents and information you may find. Advance registration is required due to limited space.
COIN APPRAISAL FAIR Saturday, April 27, 2019 – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Would you like to know what your old coins are worth? To honor National Coin Week, members of the North Hills Coin Club are offering residents informal and free coin evaluations and a chance to check out some outstanding coin collections.
