AARP TAX PREP Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Until April 11 The Library is partnering with the AARP to offer volunteer tax prep for senior citizens and low-income residents. The Library hosts AARP on Tuesdays and Thursdays until April 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. We book appointments weekly and will not take walk-ins. You must call 412-366-8100 x 113 or register in person at the adult reference desk. Appointments will be made each Monday for the time slots available for that week. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING NECESSARY PAPERWORK TO YOUR APPOINTMENT. Slots are limited due to volunteer availability.
GREAT READ TRIVIA NIGHT Thursday, April 4, 2019 - 6:30 Think you know books? Interested in joining in the North Region's annual Battle of the Books event on April 25? Join us for a night of fun and friendly competition! Check out PBS's Great American Read top 10 books, then come test your knowledge against other readers. Play on your own or bring along a partner. The winner will be guaranteed a spot in the Battle of the Books on April 25, and we'll take care of the registration fee! Other prizes will be available for second place and for a lucky raffle winner. Registration is required for this 21+ BYOB event. Snacks will be provided.
DIGITAL BOOT CAMP: What Parents Need to Know About Social Media and Digital Etiquette Saturday, April 6 from 9 – 11: 45 a.m. Join us for the spring session of Digital Boot Camp for parents as we explore the social media platforms that students favor, as well as what to look out for with their use. We will also discuss digital etiquette and how your digital footprint can impact your life. This program will include two presentations from local experts, as well as breakout presentations from North Allegheny and North Hills school districts. Parents of students of all ages are welcome to attend. Registration is required. Attendees will have a chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card as a door prize.
PERENNIALS IN THE GARDEN: 3 SEASONS OF COLOR Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m. This presentation by Penn State Master Gardener Bill Goff will look closely at one perennial garden and how it changes throughout the seasons. Bill will suggest plants as well as cover the care and maintenance of the perennial border. Registration is required.
