La Roche College to Present Design Dialogue Presentation
The La Roche College Interior Design Advisory Board will host its annual Design Dialogue Presentation at the Pittsburgh Opera House on Oct. 11.
Courtney J. Garrett, a prominent name amongst emerging American artists, will take the stage to discuss the power of other spaces. Ms. Garrett has been recognized internationally for her work. Several years ago she was selected by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to create the foundation’s first historically documented series.
Her work challenges the awakening of every sense in a viewer to see, hear and feel the anticipation and emotion of her pieces. She strongly believes that it’s not about looking at a work of art – but looking through it. Ms. Garrett’s approach is centered on how viewer’s function with art in spaces, through design, in life.
The event will begin with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $40, $25 for La Roche alumni and $10 for non-La Roche students. La Roche students receive free admission.
The Design Dialogue Speakers Series is an annual event sponsored by the La Roche College Interior Design Advisory Board. The series brings an internationally known designer to Pittsburgh to speak to the professional design community and students. Featured designers also visit the La Roche campus for an informal discussion with interior design and graphic design students.
