La Roche Professional Development Series to Benefit HR and Business Professionals

This fall La Roche College will host the 24th installment of its widely popular Professional Development Series.

Presented by the graduate program in human resources management, the Professional Development Series offers seminars led by industry experts, informal networking opportunities and the chance for participants to earn credits for HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) certification.

The series is ideal for business and HR professionals who want to learn how to effectively manage a variety of HR issues. Seminars will be held in the Ryan Room of the Zappala College Center at La Roche’s campus in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Each event will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception for participants to enjoy light refreshments and an informal networking environment, followed by the presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The fall 2018 lineup includes: MONDAY, OCT. 15 Bill Thomas Managing Principal Centric Performance, LLC Winning Managers Connect-the-Dots: Goals, Feedback, Coaching and Development 2 HRCI Credits - General | 2 SHRM Credits

This session will explore several organizations at various stages of transforming performance management philosophies, processes and practices. Mr. Thomas will share the specific steps being taken to replace annual reviews and/or performance ratings by forging a more effective and connected approach to goal setting, feedback, coaching and development.

Every year benefit negotiations seem to start earlier, leaving many HR professionals with more sleepless nights. Open enrollment will soon be here and in preparation, you may be spending countless hours agonizing over provider paperwork, trying to make sense out of changes to premiums, benefits levels, and juggling to appease both the leadership team and employees who are apprehensive and unclear about how the changes will impact them. In this session Ms. Allen will share her experiences and explain how to communicate benefits to your workforce in a way that improves health literacy and has a positive impact on both the company and the employer.
