Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh seeks 1,000 volunteers
FREE dental clinic
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh (MOMPgh) is seeking 1,000 volunteers to assist with a free dental clinic taking place June 29-30 at the PPG Paints Arena.
Now in its second year dedicated to serving the Pittsburgh community, Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will bring together hundreds of dentists, clinicians, nurses and general volunteers to provide two days of dental care to underserved people living in the Pittsburgh region. Many of the patients who will be served are from working families who do not have access to dental care or cannot afford dental insurance. Services and treatment will include dental diagnoses, minor restorative fillings, extractions and cleanings, which will be provided at no charge to adults and children age two and up. Care will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and there are no income or eligibility requirements.
Dentists, hygienists, pharmacists and clinical professional volunteers are needed, as well as individuals to assist with patient registration, exit interviews and other administrative tasks. No experience is needed to assist as a general volunteer.
All volunteers will participate in a training session prior to the event and will be provided with meals on the day(s) they serve. For volunteers looking to stay in the city overnight, a reduced lodging rate is available at the Westin Convention Center Hotel when booking with the MOM-Pittsburgh discount.
