Wildbird Recovery's First Annual Baby Shower

Did you know? It cost us $40 to raise a baby bird to release ($60 for an insectivore). You can help us prep for spring baby season; all it takes is a small donation. We can feel the changes in the air - the cardinals are courting, the birds are singing more in the mornings and not too far away some of the early spring wildflowers are starting to bloom. This can only mean one thing - Spring is coming! We are excited for winter to go away but are also a little nervous about what spring brings - baby birds! Last year 180 hatchlings, nestlings, fledgelings, and juvenile birds were admitted during "baby season" costing us almost $10,000 to feed! Despite popular belief, in nature, baby season doesn't end when spring is over. We sometimes admit babies from march all the way through October! To help us get ready for the baby bird season we are having our first ever Baby Shower on March 24, 2018 at Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley, PA. The event will run from 1:00 - 5:00 PM and you will have the opportunity to meet some of the education birds, have a chance to win some raffle baskets, bid on silent auction items, have some light refreshments and give the kids an opportunity to get their face painted by Lisa Busa. For more information on the event please take a look on our website. Can't make it to the baby shower? You can make a donation today!
