Free Screenings for Colon Cancer and Other Conditions
Register by Nov. 8
WHAT: UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Passavant will offer a non-invasive colon cancer screening program, which includes a FIT test kit (a more sensitive/easier stool test done at home). Other screenings will include bone density and blood pressure. In addition, healthy lifestyle education information will be available, including cancer screening guidelines, smoking cessation, and cancer prevention and nutrition.
You qualify if you:
• Are 50 to 75 years of age.
• Haven’t had a colonoscopy for many years or ever.
• Have any type of health insurance or no health insurance.
Pre-registration is required and must be completed by November 8. To register, contact Kathleen Bryte, clinical education specialist, at 412-748-5762. If needed, please request free transportation—provided by Travelers Aid through a Passavant Hospital Foundation grant—at time of registration.
WHY: Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the U.S. — with more than 100,000 diagnosed annually. Colon screenings can detect cancer at an earlier stage when it may be more treatable.
