A six-week series of 90-minute wildlife explorations for children 5 to 10 years old will be held in various parks in and around Cranberry on successive Fridays starting at 1:00 PM on June 30. Their goal is to encourage children to spend time in nature while observing the Leave No Trace principles.

Those principles include knowing where you’re going, leaving the place the way you found it, packing out your trash for proper disposal, exercising care with fire and showing respect for wildlife. Exploration sessions each carry a $10 fee; registration for all six is $55. They include:

June 30 in Denny Park, 300 Denny Park Drive, Ross Township

July 7 in Richland Community Park Pavilion, 1157 VanVelstor Drive, Bakerstown

July 14 in Ohio Township Community Park Nature Center, 325 Nicholson Road, Sewickley

July 21 in Franklin Park’s Linbrook Park, Whispering Pines Pavilion, 2633 Big Beaver Creek Road, Sewickley

July 28 in Cranberry’s Graham Park Centennial Scouting Plaza and Fishing Lake

August 4 at 415 Knob Road, Knob Hill Park in Marshall Township.

Parents are responsible for delivering their child to the appropriate park and for picking them up at the conclusion.

Registration is available in person at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center Parks & Recreation Information Desk, online at the Parks & Recreation web site,, or by phone at 724-779-4FUN (4386).

Fees are payable at the time of registration.
