10th Annual Shaler Great Gardens Tour
From small city lots to multi-acre estates, this 10th annual Shaler Great Gardens Tour has something for everybody. The tour takes place on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Shaler North Hills Library. The tour is sponsored by the Shaler Garden Club for the benefit of the library. Five beautiful gardens have been selected to inspire and delight. Here is a sampling:
The creativity of the Lucille and Lou DeLuca garden made it one of the favorites of the 2016 Shaler Garden Contest. Through clever use of a small space, the owners created a lovely backyard retreat. They are champions of recycling, reusing, repurposing materials and reviving discarded plants. The Kathy and Tom Nega garden on the site of the former "Moortgat Studios" was a winner in WTAE's Great Backyards in the Burg Contest and resembles a European-style estate. The property features a large stone courtyard, koi pond and statuary that will make you feel like you are in Brussels.
Magical whimsy awaits you in the fairy garden of Patrice and Tom Blanchard. Their property features colorful foundation, border and island gardens, but the highlight is a winding woodland pathway populated with charmingly detailed fairy houses created by Pat, a Shaler Garden Club member.
A terraced garden is often a necessity in our hilly Pittsburgh terrain, and Janna Blackburn had a vision of how she could transform an overgrown backyard into and oasis. With skillful terracing of a slope and careful selection of plants, Janna and her husband, Casey, have created their own garden paradise, complete with a surprising greenhouse.
The cost of tickets sold at Shaler North Hills Library, 1822 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116 is $12 in advance of the tour and $15 the day of the tour. Your ticket includes visits to five outstanding gardens and a chance to win a lovely gift basket.Visit Event Website for More Info
