Old Economy Village in Ambridge will have an historic railroad lecture in the Granary building (near 14 th and Church Streets inside the Village) on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. David Aitken will talk on “The Little Saw Mill Run Railroad”. Conceived by farmers and merchants, the Little Saw Mill Run Railroad was in large part financed and managed by the Harmony Society, a group of German Communist, Capitalist,and Celibate Christians. The life and times of the railroad and the residents of the valleys will be looked at in this talk, which covers approximately from the mid-1840s to the mid-1950s.

David Aitken is a retired Railroad Yardmaster, researcher, volunteer and author. Forty years of interest resulted in David writing a book on this railroad. Copies of his book “The Little Saw Mill Run Railroad” will be for sale and there will be a book signing. This program is free of charge, but you must reserve a seat.
