Local author to sign books at 2nd Annual Author Expo

A. K. Downing, author of the young adult novel “Into the Air”, will join a group of local authors at the Cranberry Township Library on April 22 from 11am-1pm. Hosted by the Library and held at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, the “Read Local Cranberry” Author Expo is an event meant to bring local authors and the community together. “Each author will be given a table to discuss their books, writing styles, and how they became published. Since this is the second year, we’re hoping for a great turnout!” says Downing, a resident of Bradford Woods. Downing also hopes to draw people in with a give away. “My novel is about a teenager who has lived her entire life underground. When she and her father escape, she discovers a world she only dreamt about.” Keeping this theme in mind, Downing has created hand painted stones to be given away with every sale. “The idea is to give people something beautiful to keep when they buy a novel. Something that ties into the story.” Downing’s novel, called a “Page Turner” by Whirl magazine, recently kicked off an 18-person blog tour. “Bloggers from across the U.S. and from the U.K. are reviewing the novel on their blogs, Twitter, and Goodreads.” A new review will be revealed each day for the next few weeks. “The book isn’t just for young adults. It has appealed to a broad age range making it a great read for teens and parents alike.” To find out more about Read Local Cranberry, visit:
