The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Presents “Music of War; Music of Peace"
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale proudly presents “Music of War; Music of Peace” a concert of music that highlights the trials of war and the uplifting transcendence of peace, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Ingomar United Methodist Church. PCC’s annual classical concert features Richard Buchard’s “O vos omnes”, Jeffrey Van’s A Procession Around Me (a setting of four Walt Whitman Civil War Poems) and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Mass in Time of War. “The concepts of war and peace, while very different, have motivated composers through the ages to write very profound, moving works,” Music Director Susan Medley said. “Even as we sing of war, the hope of resolution is always present, and the works that celebrate that longed-for peace are truly inspirational.” The concerts feature Katy Williams, soprano, Eva Rainforth, mezzo-soprano, William Ottow, tenor, Joel Goodloe, baritone, Robert Sheffer, guitar, and the PCC Orchestra.
