Cranberry to offer Chinese Folk Dance Class for Children

Dance in China ranges from traditional ethnic ceremonies to theatrical entertainment, fitness exercise, social events and martial arts. Starting Thursday, March 23, a series of eight 45-minute Chinese folk dance classes for children ages 5 to 13 will be offered in the Cranberry Township Municipal Center under the direction of Chinese native Xiabo LaPrenza. Classes begin at 4:00 PM.

Each session begins with warm up exercises followed by instruction in various Chinese group dances including those using fans, umbrellas, ribbons and drums. An optional public performance will also be offered.

Registration for Chinese Folk Dance for Children is available in person at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center Parks & Recreation Information Desk, online at the parks & recreation web site, , or by phone at 724-779-4FUN (4386). The program fee of $70 for residents, $75 for non-residents, is payable at the time of registration.
