Teen actors and singers invited to audition on February 6 for Prime Stage Theatre's “15 Minutes of Fame” show/competition in March

Ten selected actors and singers will be selected to perform for panel of Pittsburgh arts professionals at New Hazlett Theater Center on March 6

Have you ever watched "America's Got Talent" or "American Idol" and thought, "I can do that?" Does the idea of a professional recording session or being coached by an accomplished acting teacher appeal to you?

If you're between 12 and 18 years old, have strong singing or acting skills and would welcome the opportunity to perform onstage before an audience and a panel of Pittsburgh arts professionals, make plans to audition for Prime Stage Theatre's "15 Minutes of Fame."

Ten artists--five actors and five singers--selected from among the auditioning hopefuls, will be invited to perform in a showcase and competition on Monday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at The New Hazlett Theater Center for Performing Arts on the North Side.

Audition Details

February 6 auditions will be scheduled in five-minute time slots by appointment only. To make an appointment, audition participants are asked to email their full name, phone number, audition category (acting or singing), and preferred audition time to auditions@primestage.com by Sunday, February 5. Each will receive an return email within 48 hours confirming his or her appointment time. Walk-ins will be accepted as time allows.

Each audition participant is asked to prepare either a one-to-two-minute monologue or song. Singers should bring a music CD or an instrument to play, as an accompanist will not be provided. All those auditioning should also bring a resume and current headshot.

Those selected to perform at the March 6 competition will be notified in the days following the auditions. At the competition, each of the selected performers will have the opportunity to sing a song or perform a monologue before an audience of friends and a judging panel composed of Pittsburgh arts professionals, who will evaluate the performances and select an actor and a singer as winners. A guest emcee will host the event. Ticket information will be available at www.primestage.com.

The winning singer will receive a recording session at a professional studio and the winning actor will get a coaching session provided by a professional acting teacher.
