Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra Christmas Concert

You’ve never really experienced the joy of Christmas music until you’ve heard it performed by a 30-piece mandolin orchestra. So, take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle and enjoy The Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra, conducted by Charley Rappaport, at its annual concert of Christmas and seasonal music. The program will feature the vocal stylings of Gary Burdick and also the PMO Bluegrass Company performing traditional Christmas and holiday favorites. About the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra The Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra was founded by Alan Epstein in 2002. It is now one of the most dynamic mandolin orchestras in the United States. The Orchestra is dedicated to the preservation and proliferation of the great tradition of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, mandobasses, guitars and basses performing in concert, to create a lush orchestral sound. The group draws its repertoire from early 20th century pieces especially composed for mandolin orchestra, light classical music, ethnic music of countries where the mandolin is central in the folk tradition, experimental pieces written by contemporary composers and American folk music. Tickets available at the door or online.
