Mattress Factory Announces Family Day Celebration
The Mattress Factory museum will host a Family Day on Friday, November 25 from 11am - 4pm. The celebration, which takes place the day after Thanksgiving, is for all ages and free with museum admission. “We are extremely excited about this year's Family Day!” Shannon Phy, the museum’s Education Director said. “There will be something for everyone in the community to enjoy." The annual celebration will include a variety of activities inspired by artists who currently have works featured in the museum. Guests can make a collaborative perspective project inspired by Stephen Bram, create miniature worlds inspired by Dennis Maher, collaborate on a glow stick skyline inspired by artist Hans Peter Kuhn or make golden leaf prints inspired by Lauren Kalman. Visitors will also enjoy face painting, a hot chocolate bar and tunes by DJ Dave Zak. Additionally, all of the museum's galleries will be open. The Mattress Factory Education Department serves more than 17,000 people per year through outreach and museum education programs. All programs employ problem solving, critical thinking, and multiple disciplines within a context of creativity. A range of innovative educational opportunities aims to directly engage students, youth, educators, families and the public with the multi-sensory artwork on view at the museum, including summer classes for children, teens and families, family days, adult programs and workshops, school partnerships, professional development for teachers, and student resources.
