Car Give Away to a Local Family in Need

Forbes Road Career and Technology Center is giving away a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu to an individual in January. The giveaway, a second-time event for FRCTC, is in partnership with the national initiative Recycled Rides and with the assistance of Community Auto, a county-wide charitable organization and Flagship Collision, a full-service auto body and collision center in Verona. Eligible winners are low-income individuals who are residents of the Pittsburgh region. The individual must have a valid driver’s license, proof of income/employment, a safe driving record, must be financially challenged, able to insure, register and maintain a vehicle, and do not currently own a good working vehicle. The vehicle, with 60,000 miles, is valued at more than $10,000 and comes with new inspection and emissions stickers, fresh detailing, oil change, and a full tank of gas, along with a fuel gift card. The salvage vehicle was donated by Flagship Collision and FRCTC students provide the needed repairs to make the vehicle roadworthy and safe. Applications from qualified families are due December 1, 2016.
