NH and Hampton Cheerleaders Unite on Game Night to Help Prevent Violence Against Women
Area Girl Scouts Collecting Formal, Semi-Formal Dresses
eerleaders from the North Hills and Hampton Township school districts are teaming up for the first time to raise funds for the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh to help prevent violence against women. Donations for the charity will be taken during the North Hills versus Hampton Township football game on Oct. 28 at Martorelli Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Cheerleaders will be stationed at both gates and also in the stands throughout the game. The organization provides free, high-quality, confidential support, shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence. Additionally, girl scouts from Troop 50833 West Perry Service Area will be collecting clean, gently worn formal and semi-formal dresses and gowns. In December, the collected dresses will be sold at discounted prices at the troop’s Divas on a Dime Boutique. The boutique allows girls to shop for their winter semi-formal dances and spring proms on a friendly budget. Dress donations also will be taken on Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ross Township Community Center. If you aren’t attending the game, donations can be sent through Oct. 28 to the North Hills Athletics and Activities Office Attn: Chelle Zimmerman, 53 Rochester Road, Pittsburgh Pa. 15229.
