Let’s Hear it for the Helpers!

Every time you turn on the TV or hop on the Internet, it seems like the news is worse. And it’s hard to keep your spirits up when you’re stuck at home in quarantine, or when you’re an exhausted essential worker doing your best to keep the economy going while ensuring that everyone is safe and fed.
While we’re all doing our best to get through this time, some people are going above and beyond to help make a difference in our communities. From buying healthcare workers lunch, to making cards for residents in assisted living facilities, to delivering pizzas to first responders, to making masks for those who need them, people in the North Hills are upping their game to make others’ lives better.
When we first started posting their stories on our Facebook page, we got a great response, so we thought we’d share their good deeds in our print edition as well. Perhaps Fred Rogers said it best: “When I was a boy and would see scary things on the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.‘”
And we’re proud and humbled that so many of them live in our community.
