The Hydref: A Fall Festival & Market Faire

5th Annual Purse Party
Sat., Oct. 5, 5pm. Ross Municipal Bldg., 1000 Ross Municipal Dr., 15237. Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) will hold a party for adults 21+. Pittsburgher Burger Bash
Sat., Oct. 12, two sessions 1-4pm; 6-9pm, Highmark Stadium. The Pittsburgher Burger Bash returns for the seventh official event as top restaurant and chef competitors fire up the grills to present their best burgers for taste-testing. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Biggie’s Bullies, a foster home-based rescue founded in 2011 whose mission is to rescue and rehome Pit Bull-type dogs. 35th Annual Fall Festival

Ohio Valley Hospital’s A Toast to the Community
Sat., Oct. 12, 5:30-8:30pm, Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. Chairman Selection® Wines will be featured along with craft brews, paired with a variety of food stations ranging from comfort classics to delectable desserts. Proceeds from the event will fund community health initiatives through the hospital’s annual Diabetes Day, 38th annual 5K, and depression screenings. Genealogy Lock-In 
Fri., Oct. 18, 6:30–10 pm, Northland Library, 300 Cumberland Road, Pgh., 15237. Back again by popular demand! This evening of hands-on research requires general computer skills to search for ancestors using online databases. Research volunteers will be on hand to help. Family Lantern Tours
Sat., Oct. 19 & 26, 6-9pm. Depression Lands Museum, 5130 N. Pioneer Rd., Gibsonia, 15044. Enjoy a tour of the museum and cemetery by lantern light and be treated to tall tales, superstitions and customs from the past. No reservations; tours depart every 10 minutes. Owl-o-Ween at the National Aviary
Sat., Oct. 19 and 26, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., The National Aviary, 700 Arch St., Pittsburgh, 15212. Whooo’s ready for Owl-o-Ween? Owls, raptors, vultures, bats and other creatures of the night will greet visitors to the National Aviary’s annual family-friendly harvest festival. Come ready for costumes, candy, crafts, and amazing photo opportunities of winged creatures. Entrance included with admission.
