North Hills Annual Districtwide Book Fair
Sun., Dec. 3, 1-4pm. Barnes & Noble, Waterworks Mall, 926 Freeport Rd., 15238. All-ages, family-friendly event with live entertainment from North Hills Chorale, guitar and orchestral ensembles with a special appearance by Chris Jamison, poetry reading by high school English teacher Mark Franks and a meet-and-greet with local authors. A percentage of each sale made with a special voucher will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Shop online at

Play It Forward Toy Drive
Thurs.-Sun., Dec. 7-10, 9am-5pm. Edward Jones Branch Office, 2605 Nicholson Rd., Bldg. 1, Ste. 1200, Sewickley. Traci Conlon, an Edward Jones financial advisor in Sewickley, PA, is supporting Play it Forward Pittsburgh by using her office as a drop-off location for a toy drive, collecting gently used toys that will be offered free to families in need. Local residents can help support this effort by bringing in items to the Edward Jones’ branch office.

A Noel Celebration
Sat., Dec. 9, 7pm. Visitation Chapel at Kearns Spirituality Center, 9000 Babcock Blvd., 15101. North Hills Chorale will present a Christmas concert including a sing-along to Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Freewill offerings accepted. Sounds of the Season

Sounds of the Season concert performed by St. Kilian Parish music ministry adult choir, youth choir and bell choir with instrumentalists. Narrator will share the Christmas story. Free. Cookie Tour
Fri.-Sun., Dec. 1-3, 10am-6pm. Lawrenceville Business District. More than 6,000 attendees are expected this year for the tour that will cover the 5500 block of Butler Street to parts of Penn Avenue and 34th Street. Phipps Flower Show and Garden Railroad
Fri., Dec. 1-31, 10am-11pm. Phipps Conservatory, One Schenley Park, Pgh. The most magical time of the year arrives with more dazzling indoor and outdoor lights and expanded stunning flower displays. See delightful interactive trains in Garden Railroad: Treasure Island, displayed together for the first time in this year’s all-new holiday show.

Bird Brains Opens
Fri., Dec. 1- Jan. 31, 11am & 1:30pm. National Aviary, 700 Arch St. The National Aviary’s new free-flight bird show Bird Brains explores the concept of bird intelligence and the behaviors, traits and skills various species have developed to survive in the wild. Audiences will see macaws use their climbing skills and intelligence to master an obstacle course, and will see how crows employ problem-solving skills to get food. Light the Night

Kick off the Christmas season with Urban Impact Foundation as they present Light the Night, a Christmas celebration featuring stunning performances, live music, dance and art from a cast of more than 300 youths and adults. Ring Pittsburgh

Tai Chi at Orchard Hill

I Made It! North Hills

More than 60 artists will take over two floors within the main complex so shoppers can buy handcrafted items for everyone on their lists. Cranberry Township 55+ Club

Sealarks Women’s Group Christmas Celebration

20th Annual Senior Holiday Event

Latshaw Pops Christmas Variety Show

Indian Cooking

Ann Manchella will demonstrate the preparation of Dal Makhani with ingredients including black lentils, red kidney beans, butter and cream. The meal is typically served with rice or nann. La Roche Preview Day

Recovery from Codependency

If you are working through a relationship with an addict, combine recovery and spirituality to work this 12-step program.

Recovery for Parents of Addicts

Free phone and online support for anyone providing unpaid care to dependent children, spouses, parents, sibling, relatives, friends or neighbors. Part of the Hope Grows nonprofit organization.
