The Strength of UPMC Is Right Here

UPMC Passavant Opens New Pavilion

UPMC Passavant’s new, seven-story pavilion was designed to create the ultimate patient-family experience.

Each floor of the pavilion is specifically designed to enhance the patient experience in every way, from the use of innovative, state-of-the-art medical technologies to family-focused amenities that reduce stress and increase the comfort levels of those who use the hospital’s services.

“At UPMC Passavant, we are extremely proud about the opening of the new pavilion because it enables the hospital to provide an even higher level of patient and family care,” said Teresa Petrick, president, UPMC Passavant. “Our new facility is not only more accessible and easier to use, but provides the community with an expanded breadth of high-tech services in the caring high-touch atmosphere for which we’ve become known. We are truly building the hospital of the future.”

How has the new pavilion enhanced patient care at UPMC Passavant?

“From hair cuts to wig fittings, our appearance center was created as a way to bring small joys to our cancer patients. It helps to make the treatments a little more bearable when you feel good and you look good, too.”

“Patient care at UPMC Passavant has been enhanced significantly in our new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Our new unit promotes our concept of patient- and familycentered care with the addition of a new family waiting room; a private family room for brief periods of respite from
the high stress of an extended hospitalization of a loved one; and a family convenience room that provides shower facilities. Our unit also is designed with mini work stations outside every patient care room that allow nurses to be in constant observation of patients. These stations also allow patients to visualize their nurses even when they are not in their room, thereby enhancing patient comfort.”
