A first look at UPMC Passavant’s new pavilion addition

Grand opening festivities coming in December 2009

“Our vision is to provide exceptional services supported by staff and partners who are
dedicated to quality and innovation. UPMC Passavant is a local and regional leader in
providing highly advanced cardiovascular, cancer, and neurosurgical care, north of the
city. With the opening of our new pavilion, we will once again enhance our own standard
of providing world-class health care to the communities we serve.”

TERESA G. PETRICK
President, UPMC Passavant

The 220,000 sq. ft. addition will enhance the hospital’s capability to provide care in the following areas:

Cardiac
Cancer
Emergency/Trauma
Spine

Over the years, UPMC Passavant has met the challenge of serving a growing community by expanding its facilities, services, and staff to ensure high-quality care. And as one of the fastest growing hospitals north of Pittsburgh, UPMC Passavant is poised to expand once again. With the addition of the new, seven-story pavilion, scheduled to open in early 2010, the hospital will further enhance its ability to provide highly advanced diagnosis and treatment to residents living north of the city, enabling them to receive world-class care close to home.

“In addition to providing more space for clinical services, the new pavilion’s user-friendly design will enable us to expedite patient visits, allowing patients to be seen more quickly.”

and President of the Medical Staff, UPMC Passavant

  • An expanded Cancer Center that, when completed, will triple the current space, making it the second-largest Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, next to the Hillman Cancer Center. The Cancer Center will feature a new CT simulator; separate elevator for cancer patients; and windows in all chemotherapy suites.

  • An enlarged surgical services suite that will feature six new, SMART operating rooms; two operating rooms dedicated to image-guided procedures; and a larger patient recovery area.

UPMC Passavant: Where Technology Meets Hospitality

Even as UPMC Passavant and the new pavilion provide access to expanded services and state-of-the-art technology, the hospital hasn’t lost its focus on providing exceptional patient care. “We will continue to provide an environment where patients can get the latest technology with uncompromising hospitality — now and into the future,” says Teresa G. Petrick, president, UPMC Passavant. In addition to increasing the number of private patient rooms, UPMC Passavant also strives to make the patient experience exceptional through the use of concierge services, valet services, and other amenities, including a new garden designed to create a peaceful environment. “It is important to us, especially as we continue to expand our facilities, that we not lose the personal touch for which we’ve become known,” says Ms. Petrick. “Our goal is to differentiate ourselves from other advanced-care facilities, and that means focusing on what is most important to patients and their families.”

“With its enhanced capabilities and cutting-edge technology, the pavilion addition will make it much easier for patients to receive high-quality care close to home.”
