UPMC Passavant

For more than four decades, UPMC Passavant has cared for more of its neighbors than any other hospital in the north suburbs of Pittsburgh.

Located 12 miles north of Pittsburgh in McCandless Township, UPMC Passavant is a 324-bed facility serving northern Allegheny County and southwestern Butler County. From its inception in 1849, the hospital has been dedicated to meeting the total health needs of its community through accessible services and quality care. Now a part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, UPMC Passavant is undergoing a broad expansion of both services and facilities to ensure that the community’s health needs are met well into the future.

UPMC Passavant offers services in all medical specialties and many subspecialties. Its centers of emphasis include cardiac, cancer, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal, and gastroenterology services. Its cardiac services range from the most basic testing to advanced open-heart surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting, to rehabilitative care.

In addition to these services, UPMC Passavant features intensive, progressive and subacute care units, surgical services, physical and occupational therapy departments and centers for sleep disorders, pain management, and speech, voice, and swallowing. It also offers various community education programs and health information through the Healthy Lifestyle Center. Through its expansion initiatives, the hospital campus also boasts three new nursing pavilions, each consisting of 31 private patient rooms which enable patients to enjoy the luxury of recovering with privacy, comfort and quiet.

With more than 1,400 employees, UPMC Passavant is the largest employer in the region north of Pittsburgh. In addition, the medical staffs of both UPMC Passavant and UPMC Passavant Cranberry have combined to form a single medical staff with admitting privileges at both facilities. These 600-plus physicians share the hospital’s commitment to combining technological sophistication with personal and compassionate care.
